Through Excelencia Familiar, our registered Costa Rican non-profit, Communityfor operates a community center in La Carpio, a barrio of San José. The center provides educational opportunities for many recent immigrants from Nicaragua, and offers alternatives to gang affiliation for many youth, by providing otherwise unavailable recreational activities.
Excelencia Familiar also operates a children’s home for wards of the state, using a model that emulates small, healthy family units. The homes currently house more than 20 children.
